Salads & Sides

Classic salads

Gone are the days of the sad salad. With the addition of flavor filled fats and dressings and dairy the once scant salad bowl is now filled with an explosion of tasty and filling delights. There are so many combinations that this list below is a mere snapshot of so many possibilities.

Nutrition Calculations

It’s very hard to calculate the nutrition values for a salad because of the variations of what you will put in your bowl and how many people you will be serving. In this section of the blog I feel confident enough to include the web based nutrition calculations on the dressings, as this is something you can certainly measure out per person and per bowl. However, the exact measurements of lettuce and quantities of vegetables is near impossible to decipher from person to person.

How do you measure a handful or a scoop or a sprinkle and put those numbers into any certain calculation? You don’t and I won’t even try. My goal with this salad page is to share the possibilities and combinations. Then it’s up to you to do you own math.

For me….as long as every item I put in a salad is keto friendly and low carb then it’s good enough for me. I once heard a respected food psychologist say “no one ever got fat from eating salad”. Keep the carbs and sugar out of the salad and you should be pretty much in the clear.
