6 weeks to a Better You!
Join the Whole Life Challenge below
Have you ever needed just a little push to get on board? Maybe you need a friend to help you along? I know when I go it alone it’s because if I fail then no one will know. But when I put myself out there and show a little bit of my underbelly I put myself in an uncomfortable position. Inevitably change will occur.
For me…getting uncomfortable is the only way I know I am growing and changing and showing up and being a little better. Whether it’s for my kids, my family, my boyfriend, that cute summer bathing suit I know that when I put myself out there with the huge posibility of failing that maybe I can be a little better for them AND MYSELF.
Just showing up and/or shining down on someone that needs my sunshine a tad bit more than me today gets me out of bed each morning. Life does not revolve around me…who knew? Just kidding. When I show up and give to others and share that I am not perfect I know that others can show up and try to be better too.
My friend, Andy
Over 20 years ago I was a panicked bride! I mean terrified…but not why you might think. In hind sight I wish I had paid more attention to other aspects of my impending marriage, but we can talk about that another time (he’s an ex-husband now).
It was 6 weeks before I was to walk down the aisle and I would be damned if I was going to be a chubby bride in my own wedding. I imagined my married life looking at myself in my wedding dress pictures feeling like a puffy marshmallow. I know, so shallow!
Gold’s Gym was close by and the mecca for all health and fitness. I had a veteran personal trainer twice a week and my very own nutrition counselor…Andy Petranek. Let’s do this thing!!! I was 165lbs…and not happy about it.
Getting “Wedding Ready”
I will never ever forget Andy, and we have remained “facebook friends” for over 2 decades. Andy was kind and full of energy and nutrition knowledge. He was and still is the consummate coach.
We were up against the clock and he held my hand the whole way. I followed the IntraFitt program and if I remember correctly it was a 30/30/40 ratios of food calculated and measured. I had to eat 6 times a day and work out all the time. Some people really like this…not me.
I walked down the aisle at 154lb and was mildly happy. Today I lead a much different life and lifestyle. I am effortlessly 132-135lbs and I’m a moderate exerciser. Truth be told I’ve never been thinner and healthier in my life.
Like me, Andy has grown and learned and progressed over the past 2 decades. He has blossomed into a wildly successful fitness entrepreneur, father, husband, and a worldwide health force to be reckoned with. I am, and was, in awe as I watched him from afar over the years.
Andy opened one of the very first Crossfit gyms in Los Angeles, Crossfit LA and even earned a Master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. Ever growing and learning and challenging others to be better, Andy started Whole Life Challenge in 2014.
I’m a fan
So, when I noticed that Andy’s next Whole Life Challenge was starting up soon I need to get in on the fun. Truth be told, I have always wanted to run my own groups and challenges (I’m working on it, but I’m not there yet…and maybe that’s not my calling).
But here we are now with Andy’s challenge upon us. I can help people in my own way get healthier, get unstuck and try new things to be a little better than they are today. So, don’t be shy…come along because you never know what you might discover about yourself.
