No Recipe Necessary
But here’s how I make these fun keto friendly Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs…
I like to use Apple Gate Farms Uncured Hot Dogs. They are pretty clean and taste great. Feel free to use whatever hot dog brand fits your budget and macros.
For a long time (and still sometimes today) I would only use Hebrew National Hot Dogs that I bought in bulk at Costco. They taste great and are very economical….plus you get them in BULK.
I also try to only use Butcher Box bacon. Butcher Box is a no sugar added bacon. It’s delivered right to my door and great to keep it always on hand in the freezer when you’re ready to make Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs.
First I preheat the oven to 400* and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Next I take my bacon strip and slice it in half the full length of the slice of the bacon. Then I take one of the slices of my butcher box bacon and I wrap the dog from one end to the next.
You can secure the bacon at each end with a tooth pick just to keep the bacon from curling. I think it makes my Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs look more pulled together and then you can pull the toothpicks out to serve or to store.
Baking and broiling
Once I have all my Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs wrapped and secured I pop that baking sheet into the oven and bake for 20 or so minutes. Check your dogs and bacon for doneness at around 20 minutes.
Depending on how done you want your bacon at some point you may turn your oven to broil and let it go for 2-4 minutes. Remove from oven and let your dogs cool slightly before serving.
Simple low sugar ketchup, mustard or mayo. I pop leftovers over salads the next day and drizzle with a homemade low sugar Thousand Island dressing, too.
Just a quick note as to why I did not include the nutrition calculations with this recipe. Because everyone will use different hot dogs and bacon and condiments for their Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs it is off the charts difficult to control for what you will use.
Sorry guys…you have to calculate the numbers on your own. xoxox
