You don’t want to exit ketosis for one of life’s simple pleasures. We understand! Alcohol comes from sugar and sugar = carbs. And carbs need to be watched.

Ketogenic wines are not all created equal.

The best kind has less than 13.5% ABV and no residual sugar, but even dry wines can contain up to 30 grams of sugar per liter. So, what’s the solution?

Drink Dry

Wine isn’t only about color and taste. A dry or sweet designation is a sign of the sugar content. Dry simply means less sugar.

Unlike soda and other packages drinks, the sugar in wine and some other alcoholic beverages is derived from the natural fermentation process in their production, not from added sugars.

Yeast plays a pivotal role in consuming the sugar in grapes in the absence of oxygen.

The longer wine ferments, the less residual sugar. A very young wine will be sweet while one that is aged longer will be “drier” and less sugary.
