Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

This post about my Perfect Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs is less of a recipe and more of a How-To. Seriously I don’t know how I was ever able to make hard boiled eggs any other way before my Instant Pot.

I almost always have a pack of eggs in my fridge. Besides being keto-friendly, they’re inexpensive, full of protein, relatively easy to transport and can be eaten morning, noon and night.

Runny vs. Hard Yolk

I love a solid yolk as they’re easy to slice or mash into a paste for creamy egg salad. Runny yolks are also amazing as the yolk can be drizzled over roasted vegetables or a nice piece of meat.

No matter how you prefer your eggs, I have it covered to share with you how I make the absolute perfect hard boiled eggs right in your pressure cooker!

Not kidding.

Remember when you first opened that big box with your brand new Instant Pot? You received a little metal trivet and that’s all you need to make Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs….plus 1 cup water, and 6-12 eggs.

Cook for 5 minutes, sit in Instant Pot for 5 minutes, sit in cool water bath 5 minutes. That’s it for these perfect Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs!

Here we go…

With your Instant Pot plugged in you will place the trivet into the bottom of metal insert pot. Pour in the cup of water over the trivet and then place your eggs on top of the trivet.

Secure the lid on your Instant Pot and set the release valve to sealing.From there, you can set your timer for 5 minutes. Depending on your preference you set the timer from 3-7 minutes . I like 5 minutes for my eggs.

No babysitting a boiling pot and no splashing hot water. Once your Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs have hit their 5 minute mark, simply let them sit there for another 5 minutes. Your Instant Pot will be slow releasing the pressure.

Last part…

After a 5 minute wait time carefully quick release the rest of the steam and remove the lid. At this point your eggs will get a 5 minute cool water bath.

Using tongs or a spoon, carfeully move your eggs into a bowl of cool water to sit for 5 minutes. Honestly you can let them sit longer than 5 minutes to cool them even more, but not more than 15 minutes.

Easy Peel

You know what? Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs even easier to peel than traditional hard boiled eggs. Firmly roll your Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs in between the counter top and the palm of your hand.

After this, you’ll never want to make hard boiled eggs on the stovetop ever again!
